Crafting / Roots/ Owls /Quilts

Having been a year since I last sewed or stitched, I am now back to my crafting roots and loving it even more than before.

My recent obsession with owls, (owls as images, textiles patterns rather than actual owls), has been taking  over my new flat.

I have recently made a cushion with an applique owl on the front , based on my own design and pattern, plus in the process of making a little fabric owl family.

Just on the street where I live is the Pin Tin a well known awesome wool, fabric and everything craft based shop in Plymouth, Devon, which also has a work shop were you can attend classes, such as lamp shade making, underwear designing /making, upholstery and much more. I have recently started going to the quilting/patchwork class, as I wanted to learn a craft that was more structured than I was used to, Patchwork quilting has a long American and English history and a wide varied practice.

I have found the lady, Denise who runs the class, extremely knowledgeable and very broad based in her craft skills. This week Denise helped me with my patchwork pattern, plus gave me lots of little templates to make fabric hanging Christmas tree decorations.

If you are interested in requesting my applique owl pattern , the pattern for the hand stitched fabric owl then please e-mail me on linseymendia@yahoo.co.uk or just leave me a comment on this blog.

This blanket is going to be for a baby, hence the pattern and the colour choice

Sneaky Peak wedding Freak 2

After having my 3 bridesmaids around my flat, drinking wine, eating strawberries, chocolate and various healthy snacks, I realized that I only have 7 weeks until my wedding, so it is time to get busy!!!

Here I have tried a few ideas for my wedding such as; Crafted cones with hand made fabric flowers on and Customized bags with pearls for the bridesmaids.

Although these may not be used this should give you a flavour of the theme of my wedding.

I spent a couple hours today with my fiance drinking coffee mocha, eating toasted tea cakes, people watching and hugging...

Whilst walking back to the car, my fiance disapeared , I wandered where he went, but just assumed that perhaps he had found some kind of wood or building materials in someones garden skip, as he is working on a flat for us at the moment and at times manages to find some good finds!! But he popped out and handed me some flowers that he had hand picked, they were lovely...purple with yellow centers.

Keep up the peaking at my blog, bye for now linseyLouCreations. Photos below.

Sneaky Peak wedding freak

It has been a busy time for me since finishing school organizing my wedding, as you all know I am a very crafty person and my wedding will reflect this. I have a few amigos on board to help with creative ideas and also help with sewing!!!! I have three very beautiful bridesmaids who I have managed to get very floaty elegant dresses for!

I am also going to make a little scrapbook with all the things I want to keep, that will remind me of the preparations leading up to the wedding day such as ribbons, materials, beads, etc. Here is a photo of one of the invitation confirmations I received which I thought was very quirky and funny....

I have posted some photos of some materials / colours and themes I am using for the wedding... enjoy!!!!

Friends + Felt

Last weekend my friend sophie visited me, we have been friends since we were 16, she has just walked the Camino Santiago which has been a very memorable journey for her. We chatted whilst drinking red wine and eating princess cake!

On her arrival sophie handed me a small pink felt heart as a present, this inspired me to make some felt hearts myself with a WoRLd of linz touch!

I thought I would use a white felt for the heart and a floral printed fabric for the center of the heart, with a pearl in the middle simple but effective.

I have also bought some materials, ribbons and many beads, sequins which I am looking forward to making lots of new creations with.

I am now on my Summer Holidays and looking forward to having time to make and sell my crafts please e-mail me for any thing you would like to purchase from myself linzybenz@hotmail.com.

Craftyness

Hey all !! thanks for taking the time to visit my blog.... I hope you enjoy the read and have fun entering my WorLd !!! Well the part of my WorLd that I allow you to view....

My new found colour is RED .... everything that seems to be catching my attention either is RED or has some kind of RED on it....yes us arty types tend to get get obsessed with various strange things whether a colour, object, subject, person or thing....please view my first blog on My obsessions...which has some what changed by now...apart from my girl crush on Ellie Goulding!!!

After recently looking through my material box I found some great stripey red material, plus red ribbon and some checked red material awesome !!!!

With the anticipating excitment that I feel about moving in after my marriage with Neil Jenner Mendia ( My Boaz) into our flat together, I am filled with ideas of what to create to put in our home..... So using the materials I found I decided to make the word LoVe out out the ribbon and add a spiritual dimension to this by using the scripture from the bible that talks about what love is from the book of Corinthians!!!!

On another note I was highly enraged last night, but also extremely flattered, while visiting the Plymouth College of Art and Design degree show, when I stumbled upon a business card with a picture of the craft work I had been selling on a stall at a recent Vintage Craft Fair. The business card was for Carousel magazine, I had no idea they had even taken a photo, ....check the picture out....please also view the link to carousel mag!!! Who now want to feature my work and write about it....amazing!!!!

Have fun crafting ...

Cushion fun

I have been very busy organizing my wedding to Mr Neil Jenner mendia :D so to give myself something different to think about I made a cushion cover!!!

Recently my friend Helen has been making cards with the word love and hello sown onto fabric...this inspired me and gave me the idea to applique the word love onto my beautiful floral material that I had been given a while back.....

The cushion looks great on my bed and i am now encouraged to make some more...any ideas you would like to share please do..... comments below...

Having said that I wanted something to think about that was not wedding planning....I recently decided who I was going to have as my bridesmaids, one of who has been a friend since my collage years.... Sophie is currently in spain and sent me a very lovely card saying how honored she was to my bridesmaid...

Half term is very soon so watch this space for more inspirational/original homemade crafts ....

Polka dot buttons + Shoes

After being awake since 4,30 in the morning, I thought that the best way to utilize my crazy awakeness was to create some crafts...... I have some plain black pumps which I bought about a month or so ago....My favorite material which is blue with white polka dots on, I had left over and used to cover two buttons...Perfect I thought!!! I used these buttons to cutomise the plain black shoes.

I knew the fabric covered buttons would come to use ...(see my blog on Fabric covered buttons)

Today is Easter Sunday...oooh that means chocolate eggs!!! but also the celebration that Jesus rose from the dead, although he was cruelly crucified on the cross by the Romans, it is written in scripture that he rose again 3 days later, with many witness's who claim to have seen him after his death...Jesus died but he also rose again and beat the power of death...all that believe in him and turn from sin in repentence, can also have this gift of living eternally ....death is not the end for those who trust and believe in him!!!!

Ok ! enough of the preaching...

Happy Easter.....Why not try customising some of your own shoes...any posted pictures or links to your own creations are more than welcome on my blog ....
